About me

Hello, I am Laure Finat-Duclos, founder of L Chemistry World and an experienced Science teacher specialising in Chemistry.

I have over 15 years of experience teaching Science across KS3, KS4 and A Level, including 6 years as Head of Department. Throughout my career, I have taught students of all abilities, helping them develop confidence, improve their understanding and achieve their academic goals.

Chemistry has always been my passion. I particularly enjoy helping students make sense of difficult concepts and showing them that Chemistry is not simply a subject to memorise, but a logical subject where understanding how particles, atoms and electrons behave allows everything else to fall into place.

My teaching approach is supportive, structured and personalised. Every student is different, so I adapt my lessons to suit individual needs, whether that involves building confidence, closing knowledge gaps, preparing for examinations or stretching high-achieving students towards top grades.

I believe that students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My goal is to create a positive learning environment where students can develop both their scientific understanding and their confidence.

Alongside tutoring, I am developing L Chemistry World, a collection of resources to make Chemistry and Science more accessible engaging and easier to understand.
